Home Articles Reviews Why Designer Kelly Edwards Is “Obsessed With Allure” | Allure Flooring Reviews 2016 Kelly Edwards – Allure Flooring Reviews 2016 – Project Success Interview The tiny house movement has been growing steadily over the last few years, but designer, author, and host Kelly Edwards is taking things to a whole new level. By transforming shipping containers into sustainable tiny homes, the HGTV star has opened up a realm of new possibilities for those wanting to live minimally and sustainably. With her incredible knack for finding affordable and eco-friendly solutions, it isn’t surprising that Edwards chose Allure Flooring products as her go-to flooring for her shipping container homes. Easy-to-install, resilient, and authentic-looking, Allure Resilient Flooring products are quickly changing the way industry experts tackle their tiny home projects. Shipping Container Homes—the Newest Trend in the Tiny House Movement Anyone who has ever watched the HGTV show “Design on a Dime” knows that Kelly Edwards has an uncanny ability to take seemingly useless materials and build something extraordinary from them. Thus, it was only a matter of time before the design expert recognized the potential in the unused shipping containers that she kept seeing everywhere. Having had the idea of building a tiny house out of a shipping container for years, Edwards and her contractor, Art Steedle, recently put their plan into action with the creation of Cargo Builders – a business venture focusing on providing high quality, affordable, well-designed, fully customizable shipping container homes Partnership With Allure to Overcome Flooring Challenges While Kelly Edwards originally wanted wood flooring to give the container home a high-end look, she admitted there were some potential problems with this choice—one of which was transportation of the container home. “…When I moved it, [the wood] possibly could buckle, it could come up, and it could ruin,” She said. “So instead, a better alternative to that and something that looks exactly like wood and you wouldn’t even know it, and it’s easier to clean, and it’s more resilient, was the Allure products.” Additionally, natural hardwood floors are expensive and take some of the affordability out of the tiny house. By partnering with Allure Flooring, Edwards has found a way around many of the problems that come with installing natural hardwood flooring in a container home. “I am completely obsessed with Allure. I love it,” Edwards said in an Allure Flooring Reviews 2016 Project Success interview. “I’ve used it for so many projects. I love the fact that it’s so versatile. I love the fact that it’s so easy to install…if I put it somewhere, I don’t have to worry about it—especially in the shipping container.” Edwards also says her choice was influenced by the fact that she could install it herself with ease. “Seriously, anyone can do it—man, woman—I could have a ten-year-old kid doing it. It’s that easy.” We had the chance to sit down and talk with Kelly about her experience using Allure in the past, and on this project specifically. Check it out!
